I have been battling bi-polar for about 6 years or more and have just recently stopped taking my medication because of the weight gain. The weight gain was just as disturbing to me as the symptoms of bi-polar. I am writing to you because I have tried to talk to my doctor about this, but he just keeps telling me that all the medication to treat bi-polar causes weight gain. I have been researching different types of medication, but would like to know what you recommend. I am taking antidepressant right now, but I am having very bad manic episodes at least 4 times a week. My manic episodes consist of shopping sprees, being real loud and funny and the center of attention at times, and when this happens, I feel like I am a child in an adults body. I make child decisions, throw things at people, and I throw fits and scream and hollar just like a child does. You are my last resort. This is recking my whole family! Inrealky need to be on something, but I am looking for a medication without the weight gain or at least minimal side effects. Also, I don’t know if I am depressed or if it is part of being bi-polar. PLEASE help me!
If you could write down the names of the pills that would be very helpful,
Thank you
